Children love birthday parties and if your family owns a dog you can bet somewhere along the line, your kids will want to have a party for your puppy or dog. Dogs in any case are social animals and providing there are no really bad tempered animals attending then a dog birthday party can be great fun. In order to have a successful party you need to think about which of the children's friends have dogs and more importantly which of their friends parents can attend. Of course the party normally ends up as a party for both the dogs and the children but with the right sort of planning and buying great dog party supplies, you can have a memorable day that everyone really enjoys.

Of course there are other excuses for a birthday party such as completing a dog training course or winning prizes at a dog show but whatever the occasion, it will be up to you and your children to come up with the ideas. Firstly why not start off with a badge for your party. This badge of course will depend upon the occasion and we have some great party banners for you. Planning the Party

Location, Location, Location

Where do you intend to hold the party? Obviously you need to determine the venue before sending out the invitations. Is the venue suitable for both your doggy friends and human friends? First stop is usually the back yard but what is access like? Are you going to be happy with lots of dogs and humans trampling through your house. It may be better to consider having the dog party in a local park or convenient BBQ and picnic setting, maybe a local farmer will lend you part of a meadow for the day. There are even some venues in towns that will allow pets and this could then be an indoor party - great if you hit inclement weather.

Sending out the Invitations

Just who do you intend to invite. Not a good idea to invite strange dogs or humans that your dog has never met before. Remember your dog's sense of smell is far superior to yours and the dog will recognise its friends. The dogs and people you should therefore invite are those that you met when your dog attended puppy training classes or you meet regularly walking their dogs at the same time as you and neighbors and family who have come into contact with your dog.

When you have your party list to manageable proportions you can then send out doggie invitations and start planning your two menus. Send the invitations as soon as possible so that everyone has plenty of time to prepare for the party.

The Menu

This of course will be the part that your dog will love the best! Don't forget though you need two menus as your dog's human guests will also want to eat and not of all them will like the food you intend to feed your dog. It also makes sense to stick to finger food as everyone will have their hands full with their canine friends and upset plates with buffet food is a lot easier to deal with on the floor than chicken and rice. In some areas there are a few dog bakeries and even if you decide not to use them, it is worth taking a look at their menus so you know what will work.

You will of course need enough bowls so that each dog has its own otherwise chaos could reign supreme. Don't forget of course that it will be a fun packed exciting day for your dog and friends so plenty of water bowls will also be needed.

Party Games

What fun can be had by everyone. See how well your dog has been trained by "fetch the sausage" Will your puppy be the one to make you proud and bring it back rather than the magic dissapearing act down their throat. Make sure you organise games that involve both the dogs and their owners. A few simple props like old car tyres for jumping through and bamboo canes to weave through will create much merriment. If you have enough doggy friends you can even have team games which will make it even more exciting for your doggy friends. One of the easiest games is of course a fancy dress contest or fashion show. A pair of plastic sunglasses and fake diamond encrusted collar make a good costume. Of course you will have to sing "Who Let the Dogs Out!" In which case you could make it a scooby doo party for adults and get them to come in fancy dress too!

Dog tricks can be used as a contest with the dog doing either the hardest or most tricks as the winner. Don't forget though to reward prizes to every dog just a bigger sausage for the winner. Owners also like to be rewarded especially children so have plenty of cakes and sweets on hand.

It will be a great day for everyone so don't forget the camera, you may even want to video some of the party as well. How to Throw Killer Theme Parties

When I was a little girl, every Wednesday afternoon, I watched the animated series Scooby-Doo on television and it is a great idea to theme your pet's birthday around scooby doo. Get some great scooby doo party supplies to give the party a great atmosphere.

I loved watching these four teenagers and a dog driving around the world in their Mystery Machine solving mysterious and frightening cases in evil cities.

These four teenagers are named Fred "Freddie" Jones, the smart and athletic boy; Daphne Blake, the pretty fashioned girl; Velma Dinkley, intellectual and a bit overweight; and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers the fearful beatnik.

At the end of each episode, Velma reveals the explanation of these strange cases; which, finally, are simple scams involving one or several local citizens.

One of the most sympathetic characters of this cartoon is a brown Great Dane. A cheerful, flippant, fearful, greedy talking dog named Scooby-Doo.

Scooby-Doo and Samy are the humorous side of this sinister atmosphere.

Scooby-Doo's characters have been redesigned. The characters have been brought alive; featured by Freddie Prinz Jr. (Shaggy), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), Linda Cardellini (Velma, who seems having lost weight after visiting my weight loss site), Matthew Lillard (Samy), and the computer technology for Scooby-Doo graphics.

Children and adults still love this cartoon.

Thirty years ago, themed birthday parties did not mean anything in my country but since ten years TV companies organize themed shows and their first guest is... Scooby Doo.

The dog has always been a famous onscreen avatar in many cartoons that were developed by the Americans. Canines have always had a special attraction that made them such loved subjects of so many cartoons that one such article would never be enough to cover them all. Yet we have to go around doing the job of covering the most famous characters that have graced American cinema and cartoons.

Hanna and Barbara was a well known creative team that literally monopolized the animation industry. Any child that grew up watching television in the nineteen seventies would remember the Great Dane that was known for its endless pit of a stomach and funny antics. These two dogs made a very funny cartoon pair. They were bachelors and constantly traveled around. In the process they inadvertently had adventures and even misadventures with the results most probably being humorous all the time. Augie clearly was the cleverer of the two but would never tell that to his beloved old dad who clearly did not seem to guess that fact either.

Hong Kong Phooey

No one would have ever thought of an idea like this. What would you think of a kids cartoon show that combined Kung Fu with “Blacksploitation”? This is exactly what Hanna Barbera did in the 1970’s and look at what they came up with? Hong Kong Phooey was a super guy ranked number one who during the day worked as a janitor at a police station and whenever he saw any sing of trouble, would run into a filing cabinet and return as a dog in a guise and also knows Kung Fu. That was one fun cartoon…

Muttley

Muttley was a dog that never talked much. But as the sidekick of Dick Dastardly he seemed more intent on spoiling it all for his master rather than aiding him, and at the end, he would top it all with a signature snigger that rang on in the minds of kids for a long time…

Why you are celebrating is up to you. It could be your pet's birthday, graduation from dog school or a doggy shower. Whatever the reason, you will need to plan around that occasion and come up with ideas that will make your pet, your guests, and your guests' pets enjoy the day immensely.

Start Off with a Motif for Your Doggy Party

Some people may think that any motif will do for a doggy party, but hey, if you are celebrating an occasion for your pet, why not do it the right way? The motif for your pet's party may depend on the occasion itself. Dog Birthday Party Ideas

This is Jake's own story, as he sees his world!

I can't remember much about my very young life, but my own story really started at around about 14 weeks, when this very nice couple came to where I was living, looking for a puppy. All I remember is sitting in the corner of the kennel, while four young lady puppies rushed over to say 'Hello'. They were very pretty blue merle collie pups and I was just a plain old 'black and white' Border collie. I was thinking to myself 'No-one will ever want me' and was resigned to a lonely life in my corner. However, to my amazement, I was the puppy they picked up to hold.

'Right', I thought... 'I'm going to make the most of this and hope that they take me home with them', so I snuggled in as tightly as I could and gave them a big wet kiss. That turned out to be a winning move on my part, because that's when my own story started for real and they took me home with them.

I was determined it would be a decision they would never regret and decided from that day on to be the best friend anyone could have asked for. When we arrived at the house, where my new 'Mom and Dad' lived. I felt a bit lost sitting on the kitchen floor all by myself, with no other puppies around to play with. But as the months went by I became more accustomed to the surroundings and started to enjoy my little life.

'This is the place for me' I thought 'There's plenty of open space to run around in, shadows to chase and even things with feathers on that fly away when you get near'.

I did have a few hiccups though, when it became time to learn how to walk on one of those lead thingies... I wasn't too keen at first! In fact I tried very hard not to give in, but as you can guess, I did!

As time passed, I had done everything from digging holes in the flowerbeds, helping with the 'unplanting' of flowers and just managing to avoid falling into the fishpond, I reckoned my new life was going to be great.

When I was about...mmm!, let me think about this...ohhh! I guess I must have been about 12 months old, everything in the house was being packed away in boxes. 'What's goin' on here?' I thought to myself 'Which box is mine?'. It turned out my own story was about to continue from a new home near the coast...

What a great place that was. So many places to have a good old romp amongst the heather, plus there was this place called 'the beach'. Wasn't too sure about it at first, as I got my feet wet, which was something that I didn't like at all (at first). But after going a few times, I began to realise that it wasn't such a bad place. I could run and run and not really get anywhere, but that didn't matter.

Then one day much to everyone's surprise, I decided to be brave and charged off into the water... Yippee!, I've got more than my feet wet now. 'Hey, this is fun' I thought 'I can actually swim'. I looked forward to being taken to the beach more and more as time passed.

However, after a couple of years everything was being packed in boxes again. Here we again, I thought, where are we off too this time? Didn't have long to wait. We moved to another house, but still near the sea.

I am nearly 6 years old now, (I think!) and I am sure I have been a constant source of amusement to 'Mom and Dad' I reckon they have got a file full of photos and lots of fond memories... so far that is!

So I reckon this year I deserve a dog birthday party with lots of dog birthday supplies. I can then invite all my doggie and human friends to my party and have some great fun!

Life has been very good for me, so a great big wet-nosed thank-you to my 'Mom and Dad' for picking me and taking me home with them that day. All I want to do now is to grow old with them, update my own story, from time to time and enjoy our lives together for many years to come...
