does anyone know any fun easy dog games?
We are doing a pet costume contest, party and adoption event in 2 weeks. We have thought of bobbin for bones for dogs(kiddie pool with bones) and bone guess (mason jar filled with bones closest guesser wins the jar).
of course we have the costume contest. and then the adoption in themorning, but we would like to do one or two more games.
we are expecting anywhere from 50-100 people (or more!!!)
and it's an all day event at the local pet superstore.
so any other ideas would be great.
(games for dogs or for people & dogs)
Have copies of pictures for kids to color and crayons. Get the kids to stick around so the parents stick around.
Remember you have to have a gaming license for any game of chance. So be sure all your activities that win anything are based on skill. Cornhole is a popular one here.
Can someone make homemade biscuits? Sell them for $.25 each or five for a dollar the kids will burn their money to feed the foster dogs and it adds up in donations. Sometimes the petstores will not allow you to have anything to compete with their sales so check on that.
Have you gotten any of the rescue magnets to sell. They are great and ship pretty quick. They last for your next event too if you have left overs.
A board with holes drilled in it for dum dum suckers. Paint the ends and have small little prizes for the kids. Be sure to have plenty of fliers and cards to hand the parents while the kids do this. Telling them about your organization.
Do you microchip? This is a biggie for us. We get a lot of people to come get their dogs microchipped.
Years ago we got a polaroid and special film that printed out a spooky border to take pictures for 5-10 dollars. I can't find any online now but you could still do polaroids of the dog and family in costume.
Don't forget the infamous look alike contest.
Cutest dog, ugliest dog you name it you can do it.

If you can section off an area, get some non-toxic finger paints and let the dogs paint. Just pour the paint into a shallow pan, have them walk through it, then have them walk on a piece of paper or cardboard. Then have them walk through a pan of water and towel them off.
If you know anybody that does caricatures, ask them if they’ll do pet caricatures. I had one done of my dog at an event a few years ago and it’s still on my refrigerator.
One of the events I was at recently did a wet t-shirt contest. People had to get their dog to sit/stay (or have someone hold the dog) then run across the field, soak a t-shirt in water, run back and put it on their dog. It was an absolute riot. But you’ll need a secure area to do it in just in case the dogs try to take off.
Another one (for an enclosed area) is the fastest nose. Get a pile of old shoes. Stick a hot dog in the toe of one shoe and add it to the pile. Then time the dog to see how long it takes him to find the hot dog.

This would be a timed game.
